Libya is an Afro- Arab country with 1,774 440 Sq. Kilometers with a coast of approx. 2000 kilometers long and 6097556 Libyan population in 2005 spread over 33 cities & villages where an average of 3.44 persons per sq. kilometers.
86 % of the population within 100 m along the coast, while 14 % are within inland cities & villages .
45.4 %of the population form labor power of which only 39.5% are involved in economical activities &total present annual turn over approx . 20 Bln Dinars ( $ 1 = 1.3 Dinars ) as 38 % used for imported materials & 62 % total income of the exported materials .
It is understood that development projects, renewal of infrastructure & foreign investment encouragements indicate expansion of business including service sector within incoming era.

IMPORTANT CITIES



TRIPOLI:

The capital city , with 911643 Libyan population in 2005 with a density of 2207.32 persons per sq . kilometer .
Foreign commercial interests & diplomatic affairs are being represented in this city which receives 1300 ships a year in its sea port .
The city has two airports serving domestic & international flights & is a gate to deep inland areas used for tourstic activities towards the east , west & south .




BENGHAZI:

Second city in term of size & importance as 685367 Libyan population in 2005 with a density of 796.24 persons per sq. kilometer. Located 1010 km east of Tripoli .
This city offers an important gate to other cities , villages & many companies working for oil sector & man–made–river project .
The sea port in Benghazi receives 750-800 ships a year handling 2.25 mln tons/ Cbm of cargo .A domestic & international airport is located 25 Km east .


MISURATA:

For many years , this city played an important role as most of the people are best known to participate in commercial activities , not only to & from this city , but also other cities in Libya .
There are 394522 Libyan population in 2005 within a density of 130.5 persons per sq. kilometer & located 211 Km east of Tripoli .
A steel complex is located between the city & the commercial port .
The area between Tripoli & Misurata within a zone of 100 Km wide contain 42 % of the Libyan population .
This indicates the amount of business related to population consumption in the area .

EJDABIA :

Located 854 Km east of Tripoli & 160 Km west of Benghazi .
It gained its importance from the location where most of oil sector activities are located or pass by to deeper Sahara towards oil fields .
EL BRAIGA oil complex & port is 60 Km west , while ELZWAITENA oil complex & port is only 30 Km to the east .
There are many national & foreign oil supporting service companies located within this region

EJDABIA

contains 190397 Libyan population within an average density of 1.81 people per sq. kilometer.
The importance of this city is due to the fact that oil sector companies which form target V.I.P client are concentrated around this region which offers also two commercial / oil sea ports & three airports built specially to serve oil sector .

ELBAIDA:

At the heart of the green mountain where 207854 Libyan population are at a density of 29.9 persons per sq . kilometer .
The area between Benghazi 197 Km west & Derna 91 Km east , contain 21.8 % of Libyan population mainly concerned on agricultural activities & some industrial companies & considered very important for touring activities & active commercial centre for so many villages within region .
An airport is located 30 Km east .
It has been selected as a target region for foreign investment & development projects.

TOBRUG:

The location of TOBRUG makes it a unique place as it is only 133 Km west of the busy Libyan / Egyptian boarders , has a natural harbor serving commercial / oil sectors , a refinery , an airport only 20 Km south & a very important historic attraction sight ( 2nd world war ) .
This city is nominated to be a duty free zone , especially being closest point from coast to Sudanese boarders as some transit trading is expending gradually .


SABHA :

Deep in the interior is Fezzan, home of the finest natural gallery of prehistoric rock are in Africa. Sabha is the largest oasis and the major city in the Fezzan Region.
It is situated in the middle of the desert where visitors may spend an enjoyable time in a quiet and peaceful atmosphere between golden sand dunes, green palm trees, clear water springs and the ancient ruins and civilization that surround it.

The modern city of Sabha may be reached via a modern highway network across the desert or by air from Tripoli and Benghazi.

It is built on the ruins of an ancient city where past civilizations such as that of the Garmantes thrived. Their drawings and engravings on the rocks of the Akakus mountains and their earliest artifacts date back to the first millennium B.C., telling the story of the great original Libyan civilization that flourished in this part of the country.

Further north, across the sand-sea and the huge dunes one reaches the magnificent oasis of Gabroun which has been restored in order to cater for travelers. The original inhabitants, the Dawada, also known as the "Worm Eaters" have now moved to an area closer to the highway.
